New Fenty Beauty Snap Shadows Review

Rihanna Snapped! The New Fenty Beauty Snap Shadows Review

With Fenty Beauty’s revolutionary 50 shade foundation makeup launch, they took the makeup industry by storm. Since then, they have been releasing makeup after makeup without a break in sight.

And I must say there are more wins than flops in Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty collection. Right after Christmas 2019, Fenty Beauty released a whole new range of 8 new eyeshadow palettes called the Snap Shadows.

The Snap Shadow Palettes are a unique product that, as the name suggests, literally snap together! “That’s the beauty of Snap Shadows—you can mix & match these palettes to vibe with you. Eyeshadow is all about having fun and switching it up as you please. Snap Shadows let you do that—it gives you the freedom to choose.” as Rihanna stated on the Fenty website.

You can customize and choose your favourite combos by simply snapping them together! If you want a 12-pan eyeshadow, you got it, all you need to do is snap 2 palettes together and you’re all set!

Who doesn’t love a portable product? Being a mini eyeshadow palette, this Snap Shadow Palette is perfect for travelling. It also has a decent-sized mirror which is a must-have for eyeshadow palettes. Just slip this in your purse, and you’re good to go!

The name on the palette and shade names are printed on the back. Nonetheless, you don’t have to worry about getting confused about which one is which because the front of the packaging has the number of the palette so you could tell right away.

The packaging of the palettes is really great and practical too. All of the palettes have a number which makes it easy to what’s what. The names of the shades are on the back of the palettes, always useful.

It’s not the first time that Fenty Beauty had brought out some great packaging, their contour and highlight sticks have magnetic snaps so you could bundle them up together as well.

Don’t you just love innovative packaging? It adds so much extra zing and fun! Now onto the eyeshadow palettes themselves!

The New Fenty Beauty Snap Shadows

There are 8 palettes in the Snap Shadows collection, each one has a variety of shades and tones that are both matte and shimmery. Attractively packaged in a white compact, the number of each palette is on the front and named according to their colour family.

Each palette has 6 shades with many of the palettes complementing each other. You can expect high-quality eyeshadows from Fenty Beauty.

These eyeshadows are so easy to use and apply, they are buttery in texture and blend superbly. They are highly pigmented with very little fallout.

1. True Neutrals

true neutrals

This palette is perfect for your everyday collection. The True Neutrals palette features warm browns, peaches and nude shades with a combination of mattes and shimmers. For both makeup beginners and neutral lovers, the 1 True Neutral palette will be an excellent choice for creating simple, yet impressive neutral eyeshadow looks.

2. Cool Neutrals

Cool Neutrals

If you love your purple and plums, the number 2 – Cool Neutrals palette is right up your alley. This palette features cool-toned shadows with the likes of champagne, purple and taupe brown colours.

Unlike the True Neutral palette, the Cool Neutrals have a lot more shimmer shades, perfect for a party look and an evening out!

3. Deep Neutrals

Deep Neutrals

The Deep Neutral palette has deeper tones than the previous palettes. With maroons, burgundy and oranges, this colour palette reminds me of a sunset, the type you see by the beach where the colours are the most beautiful!

The colours are subtle enough so you won’t get overwhelmed if you don’t like bright, out-there shades. The Deep Neutral palette is great for a smokey eye look, and for when you want to look firey!

4. Rose

The name says it all, this palette is all about those rose and pink shades. This is yet another beautiful palette perfect for the pink-loving girls out there!

The Rose palette is ideal for experimenting with incorporating pink into your make-up look. With the 6 different fabulous shades of pink, you are bound to have fun creating pink eye looks!

5. Peach

Another aptly named palette is because the Peach palette has warm tones of peach, oranges and corals. If you like neutrals, but with a little bit of lighter colour, this palette is another great option. Easily apply the peaches and orange shimmers to brighten your look!

6. Smoky

The Smoky Palette has a great choice of darker shades with black, a shimmery deep grey and a shimmery purple. If you’re looking for an eyeshadow palette that will cater to your grungy makeup needs, the 6 Smoky will surely let you create a smouldering smokey look.

7. Cadet

My first instinct when seeing the Cadet palette was falling leaves in the autumn. Yellow, brown and green shades depict the colours to a T. and boy is it pretty. The colours are tastefully muted which will give you some beautiful combinations and looks for you to create.

8. Pastel Frost

pastel frost

Last but not least, the pastel frost. This palette has 6 shimmery shimmers. From blues, pinks and purples, these are gorgeous pastels for a gorgeous pastel makeup look. You can even use the palette alone and be totally dazzling, or you can ‘snap it’ with another palette to create your own creation!

My Thoughts

With loads of larger eyeshadow palette releases in the past year, the Snap Shadow Palettes are definitely an exceptional and innovative concept. As much as bigger eyeshadows palettes can offer more with more shades and shadows, we must admit that often many of the colours go unused.

I think the 6-pan eyeshadow is a more practical solution, if you want only 6 shades then you only need 1 of the palettes. If you want a bigger palette with more shades then you get to choose your palette combination!

It’s really a chance to get your creativity out there. There is something for everyone within this collection!

The Snap Shadows eyeshadow palettes will undoubtedly be an excellent addition to your makeup collection this 2020. You get to choose what colour combinations you want and they are ideal for on-the-go! What could be better?!

This release has made me really look forward to what Fenty Beauty has in store for us next! I’m already anticipating what innovative genius ideas they’ve got up their sleeves. I guess we’ll just have to wait it out!

  1. What a great idea, combos that snap together. I am so sick of looking for my small eyeshadows in my drawer, and they never seem to stay together, so you can never find the color you are looking for.

This idea seems like the perfect solution to keep it all together and in one place so that you can see at a glance what colors you need. I love the deep neutrals and that would be my first choice.

    1. The eyeshadows will definitely be a lot easier to find!

  2. BlueMoon UniqueFashion says:

I really like Fenty Beauty eye shadows! I’ll have to check out these new Snap Shadow Palettes. Mini shadow pallets are great because they are easy to carry in your purse and you can always use them. These color palettes are beautiful, I personally like the pastel – earthy colors but it is always good to have one at a time – two shades with glitter in the palette.

    1. Fenty Beauty indeed has lovely eyeshadow!
