Yesterday, I did a blog post on the best shampoos for grey hair, and I figured, since we’re on the topic of grey hair, we might as well dive into it a bit more! It used to be that only those over 70 sported grey hair, it was considered old. Well, that was then! Nowadays it’s trendy for all ages to show off some grey highlights or a full grey head. If you’re wondering why? Just check out these hairstyles below! They’ll convince you to ditch the dye and go au natural!
1. Silver Highlights
Go for a chic bob with grey highlights and lowlights. I love her hair and the best part is, it doesn’t make her look old at all!
2. Icy Silver
You know that awkward in between stage in life when you’re kinda in no mans land? That’s often what a drastic colour transition can look like. The trick to avoiding that is to simply dye the whole head! It’s beautiful and elegant.
3. Silver Bob
With highlights of light blonde, this silver tress is really beautiful. Of course, the blunt cut is the killer with this lob. Depending on your face shape, a longer front than back can add so much style!
4. Cropped Greys
Be brave and daring with this icy chopped drop. If you look closely, you’ll notice how many shades there are in this one hairstyle. It’s got blonde, black and multiple shades of grey.
5. Silver Mane
It’s not often that you come across grey hair that looks so healthy, full of life and soft. Her hair is pretty amazing and the colour is totally fabulous! It seems like the ends still have some of her natural hair colour. If I go grey like that, I’ll undoubtedly keep my hair natural!
6. Silver or blue?
I know the caption says the hair colour is more slivery that blue, but I gotta admit, I love the blue/silvery vibe that it has. It’s a fun take on the classic white and grey colour! Again check out the lowlights and highlights! It’s all in the details friends!
7. Barbie hair
The hair of my dreams until I was…ye, I’m not gonna say! I can’t count the number of times I dreamt that I had this beautiful Barbie hair. I always thought that if I beg hard enough I’ll wake up to gorgeous, white straight hair. Ye, it never happened. Eventually, I learnt to kinda like my brown frizz! Life can be rough:)
8. Grey all the way
Is grey the new blonde? I think she’s pulled it off just as well! I’m having a hard time guessing how old she is, and she has grey hair which you would think makes her look older! With her golden skin tone, the white contrast in her hair is really complimentary on her.
9. Voluminous Pixie Cut
Does it get more sophisticated than this? I think not! The colour is utterly gorgeous and so is the hairstyle. She’s hashtagged over 40 and fabulous and I couldn’t agree more! This is one of the most put-together hairstyles for women over 50 but it does take some daily styling to get it right, so only attempt it if you can keep it up!
10. Grey Bob
Another classic for you is this gorgeous bob in grey or more like silver. It’s easy to manage and easy to pull off! Using a purple shampoo every so often will greatly help keep this colour so fab!
11. Mid-length grey wave
This beauty looks like she’s sporting a natural colour change, she’s got her older darker greys at the bottom, with her newer lighter more silvery greys on top. You can call it upside-down balayage- either way it’s beautiful and so is she!
12. Shoulder-length hair with layers
A pretty impressive transformation! From drab to fab in one sitting, this hairdresser is really something. The hairstyle is really great for older women who still like some hair on their head. Add some choppy layers at the front to give it some oomph!
13. A-line Bob
Another insane transformation where the hair is barely recognised! There are loads of different silver tones that add so much depth and texture to the hair. This length is easy to manage, especially if you naturally have straight bouncy hair!
14. Long lob
Apparently, it’s normal to sit at your hairdresser for 9 hours in one session. I’m not sure I would be able to stomach that, but for results like this one, I can understand why people push themselves to go with it! This long bob is absolutely gorgeous. Just look at all those ashy highlights! All you need to do is add some waves and voila- you will be a head-turner!
15. Pixie Cut
For the ever practical woman, this hairstyle will give you the freedom you need to just get on! With no styling or colouring needed, you hair will barely need any attention from you and you will still look fab!
16. White hair, don’t care
White hair has become quite the trend in recent years, and it’s easy to understand why! If you have pale skin, it brings out that ice-queen realm in you. One of the hottest hair trends in this coming year, I predict you’ll be seeing a lot of it!
17. Bob balayage
The balayage trend has no intention of going anywhere this 2021! It’s simply shifted to ashier colours including greys and silvers. Instead of dyeing your grey hair, simply add some lighter greys and silvers to keep it young. Keep it sleek with this stylish bob that is timeless!
18. Greys with greens
Add some spunk to your grey hair with some greens (or any other deep colour), peeking through the layers! Give it a sharp edgy chop for the full effect! You can keep this look longer or shorter- both will be effective!
19. Silver Mane
Another Barbie look for you, but this time with darker roots which is more on-trend at the moment. This look is amazing but probably won’t work on those with natural grey hair, as it tends to be dry and this look needs hair that’s very moisturised and hydrated. But why wait until you’re grey to try out this look? There’s no time like the present!
