ColourPop Pretty Fresh Hyaluronic Hydrating Foundation

The New ColourPop Pretty Fresh Foundation Review

The ColourPop Pretty Fresh Hyaluronic Hydrating Foundation comes in a whopping 42 shades. From the darkest to the lightest, it was made with all skin tones in mind!

Made for all skin types too, it’s a hydrating foundation that delivers medium to full buildable coverage with a natural skin finish. It’s also infused with Coconut Water & Hyaluronic Acid for hydrated, luminous skin. Sounds like a treat in a foundation!

Packaging

For $16 or £13, you get a full glass pump bottle with 30 ml of product. The design is straightforward and pretty and the glass is transparent but has a slight matte sheen to it.

Formula & Application

The most amazing factor of this foundation is its hydrating properties! If you are in need of some extra hydration you need to try this new foundation!

Formulated with Hydrafresh Complex, the Pretty Fresh Foundation has a blend of fruit extracts to enhance the look of your skin by instantly hydrating it. It also diminishes the look of fine lines with an incredible non-cakey full-coverage finish.

The Hyaluronic Acid and Coconut Water add hydrating qualities without adding any weight. It’s like you get all the benefits and leave the side effects behind! It has a featherweight feel which is very welcoming in the heat! I love how it’s a vegan, cruelty-free product with an oil-free and dermatologically proven safe makeup formula.

On my skin, it does look slightly thick but it doesn’t feel like a dense product. It spreads with ease no matter what applicator you chose to use. I’m pretty impressed at how it doesn’t get soaked in my beauty blender. Lightweight cream products tend to go that route, but this one actually doesn’t!

You’ll love how the foundation’s finish looks so natural. None of that glazed icing-like texture. It covered up my blemishes and any redness pretty well.

It’s very opaque on my fair skin, but at the same time, still looks natural and that’s probably due to its hydrating properties. It has a glowy, healthy sheen when it sets which I love, as opposed to a highlight or glitter vibe kind of finish.

The foundation doesn’t last quite as well as it applies. Over the day, it tends to transfer a little and feel ever so slightly tacky. Using a setting powder and setting spray with this foundation is really imperative.

I recommend using a matte setting spray because you don’t need added glow, over the day the foundation gets more glowing anyway. With that small negative point easily fixed, there isn’t anything else to hate about this product. On to more of the good things!

Once the foundation had been set properly, putting on my other makeup products was problem-free. I had no problems with patchiness when I put on either a cream or powder contour. And it also stayed lightweight.

What I found most impressive about this foundation is that it doesn’t oxidize! I put on the rest of my makeup and waited for something to happen with the base but nothing did. It doesn’t harden or turn orange. Nor does it thicken and foam up. Even the swatch and patch test I did on the back of my hand reveals the same thing.

All those great things stay the same, even with one or three layers! Though I do need to mention that you might be satisfied with just one or two layers. It has a lightweight texture, but dense pigmentation. The colour payoff and coverage really show in just one application.

You can build it up more if it’s something you’d like, but just remember that it really takes time for it to dry and set. At four layers, you might want to start doing your nails because waiting it out will take a while!

Although to be honest, 4 layers of foundation don’t really look natural with any foundation. At least I haven’t come across one yet that does! Send me a message if I’m missing a foundation that I need to try!

Wear Test

The great experience with applying this product made me sceptical about how good it would wear. So I was waiting and expecting a failure to happen. Maybe a melting patch or a transfer scene.

Aside from the tacky feel which was easily solved, in all the 9 hours I wore this, I just set myself up for disappointment. All that waiting was for nothing. The foundation stayed on fabulously!

However, it got really hot around midday and I started to sweat a little. The foundation wore on but I did find myself doing a powder retouch because of my perspiration. That being said, there were still no patches or melt lines.

I still felt comfortable wearing this under pressure. And I certainly appreciate that feat. Remember, it is a full-coverage foundation. (Some will have a medium coverage effect).

My Thoughts

The Pretty Fresh Foundation could very well be one of ColourPop’s best releases yet, and that’s saying something considering how often they release products! In general, I love ColourPop products and the Pretty Fresh Foundation is no exception!

It’s an incredible foundation for its price, it has a drugstore price with everything else about the foundation high-end!
