Makeup By Mario Softsculpt Bronzing & Shaping Serum
Move over from bronzer palettes and sticks, the thing we’ve all been missing in our makeup lives is a bronzing serum!
But not for long, Makeup By Mario has released a Bronzing & Shaping Serum to join their already bestselling Softsculpt line and I will fill you in on everything you need to know about it!
Why A Bronzing Serum?
A serum or liquid is a great option instead of a stick or powder because you get a much more natural-looking finish, which is exactly what Mario had in mind when he created the Softsculpt Bronzing & Shaping Serum.
It has a second-kiss finish- meaning a finish that looks like skin. Instead of a patchy contour look, you get a smooth seamless finish, you can’t see where the bronzer begins and ends. It helps shape and contour your face in a natural-looking way.
But there’s more to love, the applicator comes with dual packaging of a pump and wand. While they’re not the first brand to come out with it, (Pur Cosmetics 4-in-1 Foundation & Concealer was the first) it’s a welcoming change that most brands should be implementing.
It’s a really smart and practical option. There are always those times you need a pump and those times you want a precise application with an applicator!
The Ingredients
Made with hyaluronic acid and vitamin E, the serum hydrates and nourishes the skin, while giving a soft blurred effect making it ideal for aging and mature skin as well as all other ages!
The Shades
The Softscuplt Bronzing & Shaping Serum comes in 7 shades ranging from fair to deep dark. The dark shades look ok for most deeper skin tones but, there are already many complaints about the fair shades not being fair enough for fair skin.
As someone with extremely pale skin, the fair shade looks far too dark for my skin. That being said, this isn’t a foundation where it needs to match the skin perfectly.
A bronzing serum is supposed to be darker than the skin, and with its sheer coverage, once blended thoroughly, it should work for most skin tones.
How to Use It
You can use the Bronzing & Shaping Serum on bare skin or on top of your makeup. For a sunkissed glow, use it all over your face. Alternatively, use it in the areas you want to sculpt, like your cheekbones, jawline and forehead.
My Thoughts
I think the Makeup by Mario Softsculpt Bronzing & Shaping Serum is a really exciting new product in the makeup world! It opens new doors for contouring and sculpting the face in a more natural way than ever before! I love how it has skincare ingredients making it beneficial for the skin too.
My only criticism is that there could be a shade or two lighter for those with extremely pale skin like myself.
