Giorgio Armani Face Fabric Foundation Review
I bought the Giorgio Armani Face Fabric Foundation on a whim, and it quickly became my go-to foundation! has been discontinued before, but due to popular demand, Giorgio Armani has brought it back.
Today, I’m giving you the rundown of why I fell in love with this cult favourite, along with which skin type the Face Fabric Foundation is for as well as the pros and cons.
Armani Face Fabric Foundation Packaging
I appreciate it when brands make an effort to design packaging that captures the essence of their product. In this case, the foundation comes in a sleek and matte plastic tube with a classy navy blue motif.
Inspired by denim, it’s basically saying that this foundation is as comfortable and wearable as your favourite denim pants. And I completely agree because it feels like something you’d want to put on every day.
Another thing I love is despite housing 1.35 fluid ounces of product (most foundations only have 1 fluid ounce), the tube is still pretty handy and can fit conveniently in your makeup bag.
Armani Face Fabric Shade Range
It has relatively fewer shades compared to Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation, but despite that, the 12 shades are pretty decent, ranging from fair to dark. They even had a fair enough shade for me!
However, I think it would be great if they diversify the darker shades a bit more. Similar to the Luminous Silk Foundation, it also considers your undertone and comes in warm, neutral, and cool.
The “second skin” effect of the Face Fabric
The Giorgio Armani Face Fabric foundation claims to look and feel like “second skin”. Thanks to its 3D stretch technology which allows the formula to move with your skin. I can’t completely explain the science behind it, all I can say is that it seriously works!
The foundation feels light and velvety on the face as if you have nothing on it. I love how it feels, I have a major aversion to foundations that feel thick on my skin and this is exactly the opposite!
I especially love how it blurs out my pores, evens out my skin tone and helps reduce redness while still looking very natural. It’s perfect if you’re going for a natural look but doesn’t want to go out completely bare-faced. It will also work well for days when you just want to give your skin a break from heavy makeup.
Because it only gives you sheer to medium coverage, it doesn’t completely cover any major skin concerns like most full-coverage foundations will. It is buildable though and blends beautifully.
The airy and mousse-like texture of the foundation helps it glide smoothly on my skin. It almost feels like applying a tinted primer.
For someone who struggles in getting my foundation right, it gets plus points for being such a breeze to apply! You can use a brush or a beauty blender, depending on your preference.
Personally, I find that using my fingertips is easier and gives it a more skin-like finish. By the way, a little goes a long way with this foundation so squeeze with care!
I was pleasantly surprised how something so light on the skin has such impressive staying power. It doesn’t budge for 12 hours without touch-ups, and my makeup looked fresh the whole day.
I did use a primer and a setting powder, however, I always use both when applying foundation and not all foundations have stayed as well as this one. What’s more amazing is that it kept my skin velvety smooth until I had to wash it off at night.
What skin type is the Giorgio Armani Foundation for?
The foundation dries off to a powdery matte finish and works wonders in controlling oil. This is great if like me and you’re tired of dabbing oil control film on your face throughout the day.
It is also well suited for people with normal, combination, and even sensitive skin. I also highly recommend it to those with mature skin. I recently got my Mom to try it out and she hasn’t looked back.
Do you know how foundations make the skin look older with their cakey look? This does not happen with the Face Fabric! There is absolutely no cakiness making it ideal for ageing skin and skin with wrinkles and fine lines. That being said, I don’t have ageing skin and this is my current go-to foundation!
If you have dry skin but would still like to give it a try, just make sure to hydrate your skin first or add your favourite mist after applying (it’ll also give you that dewy glow).
My Thoughts on the Face Fabric Foundation
The fact that the Giorgio Armani Face Fabric Foundation has made such a successful comeback says a lot about its quality. But like any product, it also has some drawbacks.
Chief of them (you’ve guessed it,) it’s expensive. I know that the steep price tag might make many people think twice before purchasing. However, if you’d like to start investing in your makeup, then I’d definitely say go for it! 🙂 It’s a winning foundation!
Another slight drawback is the fact that it contains silicone. This is a pretty common ingredient found in most beauty products today. If you have had adverse reactions to silicone, then you might want to check out other alternatives. But if you’re not particular about your makeup ingredients, then I’m sure you’ll love this foundation.
In general, I avoid silicone in skincare, because that is what touches my skin. However, since the foundation is not sitting directly on my skin (I wear primer), I don’t have a problem with it.
If you’re looking for a no-fuss foundation that looks and feels like you’ve got no makeup on, then give the Face Fabric a try. I am hooked on it!
UPDATE: Giorgio Armani has unfortunately discontinued the Face Fabric Foundation. Check out my-new found favorite Amrani Foundation- the Neo Nude Foundation.

I’m going to admit that the first thing that puts me off of this product is the name “face fabric”. Hahaha. I just have images of covering my face in cloth which is not that appealing. You’d think they’d be able to come up with a better name.
Anyway, your review sounds promising, but I don’t think I’d ever be willing to try it based on the price alone. For one, I’d be scared that I’d hate it and would have wasted my money on a product that doesn’t work for me. Or worse! I’d love it and then have to decide whether to drop that same money on a regular basis to replace it, or let it go and always miss it from that point onwards. Hahaha.
But thank you for your review! And if ever given the chance to try this foundation for free or a discounted price in the future, I might be willing to do so. 🙂
I never thought of the name like that, but good point, it’s not the best name! However, it doesn’t reflect on the actual foundation at all!
Hi,
Thank you for this beautiful and informative article. Great job indeed!
Beautiful because is about my favorite brand. I am a fan of Giorgio Armani brand: perfumes, foundation. The foundation mousse texture make it to be very light on the skin, not heavy as many others brands. The skin can breath, and especially has a very natural look. I love it! I highly recommend it.
Thanks for sharing. I will look forward more articles.
I love Giorgio Armani, all their products are fab, especially this foundation!
