These lipsticks are a mix of creamy lipsticks and lip glosses all in one divine product! The Fenty Beauty Slip Shine Sheer Shiny Lipstick Collection offers a two-in-one lip product for girls who can’t do without their plump lips. I have a big appreciation for products that can save me time and layers of makeup. And while there are many out there, in reality, they’re don’t always live up to the task. We’ll see if these Fenty lipsticks pass the test!
The Fenty Beauty Slip Shine Sheer Shiny Lipstick formula is described as being an ultra-comfortable sheer lipstick, with the perfect amount of colour and shine. They’re easy-to-wear shades and they’re the type of lipsticks you can pop on without a mirror to guide you. That’s mostly attributed to their muted pigments, which allow you to be confident that one layer of the product isn’t going to require you to assess, pop your lips, and shape the pigment with your fingers. You know, the usual steps we happen to deal with for opaque-coloured lippies.
The packaging is very appealing and in true Fenty Beauty style. I can’t imagine another brand perfecting a white, hexagonal-profiled lip case other than Fenty Beauty. They’re in standard metal bullets encased in pearly white plastic.
I had hoped that the lid would magnetically latch on to the lipstick, like the Fenty Match Stix Trio. It’s a nice small touch to the packaging that adds a lot, you know, it’s all in the details! Sadly, they don’t. They come in a full-plastic casing, which if I’m being truthful, feel a little on the cheap side.
One lip bullet costs $22.00 in the US and £19.00 in the UK. They come in 10 shades, in a mix of undertones, and universally flattering hues. They’re not geared towards a single range of warm or cool tones, nor are they limited to just a collection of reds or oranges. They have all the colours of the rainbow…well, almost!
The Fenty Beauty Lip Shine Sheer Shiny Lipstick Collection comes in ten brilliantly curated shades:
This shade can be used as a topper for your lipsticks and it looks lovely on top of the other shades in the collection. If you’ve been looking for a lip shiner that’s not heavy or greasy like glosses and lip oils, you’ll fall in love with this lipstick. On my lightly pigmented lips, I could definitely see a significant reflection of pink hues. But it’s a very demure shade and works best as paired with another lip product. I tried to top this on a red lip, and I had never admired my lip makeup so much!
Contrary to the promotional ads, it’s not your average baby pink shade. It’s brighter and is a shade that I think would be comparable to barbie pink. It looks slightly more innocent because of it’s sheer finish.
This shade is great for those who have been wanting to experiment with orange-toned lipsticks but haven’t dared yet. For someone with fair skin tones like I do, I’ve lived through the nightmare of making my lips look like I finger-licked 10 bags of Cheetos when I’m actually just wearing an orange shade of lipstick! Tang Thang could be the redemption that you need. It’s an eye-catching tomato red, offering the right amount of pigment for really pale skin.
Makeout break is a super sheer nude that is the closest to a natural lip colour. It’s a great option against Quartz Crystal if you want a slight tint of hue to match its shiny finish.
This universal shade could easily be the best selling nude colour from the collection. It has a pink undertone rather than an orange peach and it’s a neutral shade that would compliment any skin colour and undertone.
Goji Gang is your go-to shade for practically any occasion that needs a bit of dressing up. I love mauve lipsticks as they’re the most wearable ones for me. They also match a lot of different eye makeup looks. This shade is no different and it’s absolutely stunning!
This shade is similar to Goji Gang with a cooler undertone. This is handy for fair-skinned women who are worried about looking slightly off with the warmer shade mentioned.
Cookies and Cocoa is a true mauve colour that sparks my heart. It’s a must-have shade that will match anything and everyone!
Bubble Rum is a chocolate brown that’s not really flattering for my skin colour. However, when layered it looks pretty decent for a brown on fair skin. Also, I can imagine it looking extremely pretty on darker skin!
This shade is similar to Bubblerum, I’ll be honest, purple lips are not my thing. It’s a gothy look, if that’s something you’re into, you will love this lipstick! It’s not the most effective with just one layer, but it stands out if you build it up. This Vamps Who Brunch, Bubblerum, and Quartz Crystal I would say are great for topping up other lipsticks for a glossy (but not tacky) lip makeup.
Formula & Application
Picture a sheer lipstick that when applied, you can immediately see the pigment masking your lips. That pretty much summarises these lipsticks, even for the almost transparent shade, Quartz Crystal! If its tongue twister of a name could be changed, I’d call it a lip highlighter!
The formula of the lipsticks is buttery and they have a wearable creamy texture to them. They’re soothing on the lips and feels almost like a gel. I didn’t really know what to expect from these lipsticks at all. But I am impressed at how comfortable they are to wear and how easy they are to apply.
It’s said that these are clinically proven to lock in moisture. Their lightweight, nourishing lipstick formula is infused with pomegranate oil to add some hydrating qualities. Fenty’s formula and finish are very unique compared to your regular sheer lipstick!
I have definitely found my mid-2020 lippie in the Fenty Beauty Slip Shine Sheer Shiny lipsticks! And as a lipstick junkie with a penchant for dramatic colours and a highly-contrasting skin tone against these hues, I am loving the perfect sheer formula. These lipsticks are worth your bucks!
