Everything You Need To Know About Lady Gaga’s Haus Labs Rebrand
Lady Gaga has made a bold move in the beauty world with a huge rebrand from Haus Laboratories. It is now called Haus Labs by Lady Gaga.
But the change is not only in the name. The ingredients, the products, the prices and where you can buy them have nearly all changed too.
Haus Labs by Lady Gaga
Let’s start at the beginning. In 2019 Gaga launched Haus Laboratories, it was marketed as accessible and affordable and sold exclusively on Amazon which you can read about here.
Less than 3 years later, Lady Gaga decided to rebrand, with a totally different USP (unique selling point). In their own words: “supercharged clean artistry makeup powered by innovation, high-tech + high-pigment + high-performance, no-compromise color with skincare benefits.”
That is not the only change. Instead of selling on Amazon, Haus Labs is exclusively sold at Sephora and hauslabs.com. Amazon is Amazon, but when it comes to beauty Sephora is up there!
The reason behind the rebranding is not clear, many beauty brands suffered from COVID, but often brands don’t make it simply because they’re not unique enough.
There are loads of vegan and cruelty-free brands out there. The trick is to stand out from the crowd. Being a celebrity isn’t always enough.
The new Haus Labs is all about clean makeup with skincare ingredients that are good for you and your skin. To define clean, in their own words:
“#CleanHaus goes beyond the 2700+ questionable ingredients we ban from our lab. It’s about the consciously selected, safe and sustainably-sourced natural and synthetic ingredients that do make it into our formulas. And the way we formulate (and reformulate) our products until they exceed our ridiculously high standards of innovation, safety + efficacy. That’s clean.”
Clean makeup combined with bright artistry colors is what they’re all about! On to the makeup products that introduced the brand!
Hy-Power Eye, Cheek & Lip Pigment Paint
Probably the most exciting and statement-making part of the collection is these high-impact, multi-use paints that are available in 20 shades! It has 11 opaque mattes and 9 sheer shimmers.
The paints are long-wearing with hydrating and nourishing ingredients, but I think the most impressive factors are the bright colors and intense pigmentation!
Use them on your eyes or face and the sky’s the limit with what you can achieve. Check out these colourful makeup ideas for inspiration!
Optic Intensity Eco Gel Eyeliner Pencil
If you love bright-coloured eyeliner, then you need to try these Haus Labs ones! Available in 13 mattes and 5 shimmers, the choice is huge. But that’s not all there is to brag about these eyeliners!
Nope, there’s more! The eyeliners apply like a pencil, glide on like a liquid and they are long-wearing and waterproof. In fact, you only have a 10-second window before the eyeliner dries!
On top of all that fabulousness, they’re also clean with good-for-you ingredients like vitamin E and argan oil to nourish and protect your skin. They are also safe for the waterline.
The eyeliners come in plastic-free packaging which you can sharpen as you would with a regular pencil. It also has a convenient brush at the other end for blending or a smokey look.
The Haus Labs eyeliners are sending me strong vibes of the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencils which you can read more about here.
The Edge Precision Brow Pencil
Based on the original Haus Laboratories brow pencil, it now has an upgraded clean formula and new packaging. When a product is good, why create a new one from scratch?!
This dual-ended clean brow pencil comes in 13 shades of browns, blacks and blondes! With a thin tip, you can expect precise realistic-looking hair strokes.
With conditioning ingredients, the pencil helps the brows stay soft for up to 12 hours! Yes, your brows also need nourishing!
Le Monster Lip Crayon Lipstick
These creamy lipsticks are the best in the world! They are long-wearing, comfortable on the lips, have intense color and leave the lips moisturized for up to 12 hours after application!
Available in 12 demi-mattes + 1 shimmer in pinks, reds and nudes, the choice is not small!
My favourite thing about these lipsticks has to be the packaging! It’s cute and original, yet still practical!
PhD Hybrid Lip Oil
Out with the old, in with the new. Well, kinda! These lip oils were part of Haus Laboratories and have been upgraded with a clean formula and new packaging! You can read my full review of the original one.
Available in 3 shades and one clear, the PhD Lip Oils are an easy way to get a hydrating tint on your lips!
These glosses give you a shine without any stickiness, while at the same time hydrating your lips and plumping them up.
It’s no surprise that Lady Gaga brought back these lip oils, they’re everything they say and truly quite unique!
Power Sculpt Velvet Bronzer with Fermented Arnica
Don’t get put off if you don’t know what fermented arnica is. Honestly, I had no idea myself, although it does sound good!
Loaded with beneficial and anti-inflammatory oils, like fermented arnica and rapeseed oil, this bronzer gives you the benefits of skincare and makeup in one! Most bronzers act only as a bronzer, so this is a nice touch!
Available in 12 shades of neutral, cool and warm undertones, these bronzers blur the skin giving it a natural skin-like finish. They have a creamy formula that’s the perfect balance of not too creamy and not too powdery!
These bronzers give the ideal sun-kissed look without looking orange!
Bio-Radiant Gel-Powder Highlighter
Getting youthful and smoother skin with your highlighter almost sounds too good to be true. Except that’s exactly what this highlighter does! It gives you lasting effects up to 12 hours after applying it.
Available in 10 glowing shades, these gel-powder highlighters are a dream to apply and literally melt into the skin!
Like all of the other products in this collection, these highlighters are infused with ingredients that provide antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties and help your skin stay hydrated.
My Thoughts
This new collection by Lady Gaga is very impressive, but the part I love best is how the makeup is beneficial for the skin too! I think it’s the way forward with makeup and there are more and more brands creating products like this.
Makeup shouldn’t be harmful to the skin or the environment and that’s exactly what Lady Gaga has done!
I also love how each product comes in a wide variety of colours and shades. The obvious downside to the collection is that everything is a lot more expensive than Haus Laboratories.
It’s less accessible to the wider market, which is a bit of a shame. It looks like Lady Gaga has been inspired by Fenty Beauty’s success and is trying to tap into the high-end market.
Overall, Haus Labs by Lady Gaga looks like a fab collection, and since the original rebrand, there are quite a few more impressive bestsellers. Its best to date has to be the award-winning Triclone Skin Tech Medium Coverage Foundation. But really that’s for another blog post!
