Urban Decay Naked 3 Eyeshadow Palette Has Just Gone Mini!
Oooh, I do love a Naked palette, even better than a full-sized Naked palette is a Naked palette that fits into my handbag! One thing that is indisputable when it comes to Urban Decay is that they know how to do eyeshadow palettes. From the colour stories to the formula, they don’t take shortcuts. Each and every time they deliver! Let’s see if the Naked 3 Mini lives up to its reputation.
As a fan of neutral eyeshadow, I was super excited to see the release of the Urban Decay Naked 3 Mini Eyeshadow Palette. The shades look stunning and just looking at them makes my heart beat faster out of excitement! (Don’t judge me!)
Urban Decay Naked 3 Mini Eyeshadow Palette
If you have never used one of Urban Decays’ mini eyeshadow palettes before, let me just clear up one misconception. The shades are not the same as the full-size Naked eyeshadow palette. No, that would not be anything special, or exciting.
The Naked 3 Mini Eyeshadow Palette consists of 6 brand-new shades. The similarity to the Naked 3 full-sized palette lies in the similar colour story. Both palettes have rose-toned shades and similar packaging. But, it’s all in the details, and that’s where the differences are!
The shades in the Naked Mini 3 are way prettier in my humble opinion. They have more spark and life to them than the full-sized Naked 3 is lacking. I have always liked the shades in the Naked 3 palette, but I find them a bit drab.
The Naked 3 Mini has now made up for it! The colours are alive and there, and definitely not dull or boring.
From left to right the shades are:
- Glassy– ivory sheen shade
- Public– peachy champagne shimmer
- Laced Up– dusty rose pink
- Stolen– mauve shimmer
- Right Time– grey-plum matte
- Spiced– deep charcoal brown with a hint of purple
The palette has a lovely combination of mattes and shimmers. With only 6 shades in the palette, somehow there’s enough variation for multiple looks and it even has a base shade and a smokey eye one too. You’ve got to give it to them- this palette is a winner when it comes to the shades and colours they’ve chosen! It’s simply gorgeous!
As someone who has always loved neutral palettes, it’s easy to see why I’m sold. But…it’s not that easy to sell me an eyeshadow palette. Oh no, I’m quite the critique!
You can blame it on my personality or simply too much experience. But either way, the full-size Naked 3 does not pass the test for me. The colours are simply too bland. The mini palette, however, is a different story!
When it comes to the quality of the eyeshadows, well, that doesn’t disappoint either. Creamy and highly pigmented, these eyeshadows are a dream to apply to the eyes and on top of that, they last up to 12 hours.
12 hours is a big claim by any stretch of the imagination. Perhaps it’ll work for those with dry eyelids, but for people like me, I recommend using an eye primer to help those eyeshadows stay intact for hours on end.
Either way, the point you should take away is that these eyeshadows are top quality which is what we’ve come to expect from Urban Decay! It’s also vegan and cruelty-free.
Pro Tips for Using the Naked 3 Mini
Depending on the results you want, you can use the palette wet or dry with wet giving it a more intense, pigmented look. Spray your brush with a setting spray before applying the eyeshadows- this trick does magic for keeping eyeshadow fresh for longer.
You can use the eyeshadows for more than just the eyes. The highlighter shade can be used on your face too, as well as under your brow and you can get more creative with the other shades too.
Create a subtle, soft look or opt for a bold smokey look- it’s all in the palette! I love that the palette is so compact and only has 6 shades. It eliminates a lot of shades that are often not needed and I get to carry them in my handbag.
Not only is it pretty, but it’s practical too. It comes with a full-sized mirror inside which is always a nice touch!
My Thoughts
As someone who has always loved neutral eyeshadow palettes, in particular pink-based ones, I was always saddened by the full-size Naked 3 palette. It lacks zing and I’m sure I’m not the first person to say that.
Urban Decay has well and truly made up for it with the new Naked 3 Mini, it has all the zing and personality that the full-sized palette is missing. As a nice bonus, it’s also cheaper! Check out the Naked 2 Basics Eyeshadow Palette, for another natural mini palette by Urban Decay.
