Rare Beauty Positive Light Under Eye Brightener Review
Brightening products are trending at the moment, Elf Cosmetics recently bought out its Halo Glow Filter which was an instant sell-out. Tarte also just released a glow filter and it seems like we just can’t get enough of glowing skin!
Rare Beauty is the latest brand to get in on the brightening trend with its Positive Light Under Eye Brightener.
What is an under-eye brightener?
Before we get into the actual product itself, we need to do a little explaining of what an under-eye brightener is and how it works. Some of the common questions that come up are is it concealer? Is it skincare? Is it a necessity?
An under-eye brightener is exactly as it sounds, it’s used to brighten and hydrate the under-eye area. However, it’s not a concealer, if you have dark under-eye circles, a brightener will not cover those areas. First, apply your concealer and then your brightener.
It’s also not skincare. While many under-eye brighteners contain skincare ingredients, they are not meant to replace your moisturiser or eye creams. This brings us to the next point- is it a necessity in your makeup routine?
While an under-eye brightener is a lovely addition to your makeup, it is not part of the essentials. Obviously, this depends on what you consider essential in makeup. But, for the most part, concealer and some sort of foundation or tinted moisturizer are the basics of base makeup.
An under-eye brightener, or any brightener really, is an extra for those who love glowing skin. These in-between products are confusing because they’re neither here nor there! I hope we’ve got all your questions answered. On to the Rare Beauty Positive Light Under Eye Brightener Review!
Rare Beauty Positive Light Under Eye Brightener
The Rare Beauty Positive Light Under Eye Brightener is a lightweight brightener that instantly brightens and hydrates your under-eye areas. It helps to reduce dark circles and gives the skin a smoother more seamless finish.
It comes in 6 shades which believe it or not, is actually enough. The reason for that is that it’s not a concealer. It has sheer coverage, allowing each shade to work for multiple skin tones.
The shades are:
- Light–neutral undertones to brighten fair-to-light complexions
- Light Medium – pink undertones to brighten light to medium complexions
- Medium – golden undertones to brighten medium complexions
- Medium Tan – peach undertones to brighten medium tan complexions
- Medium Deep – golden undertones to brighten medium-deep complexions
- Deep–neutral undertones to brighten deep complexions
Infused with skin-loving ingredients like White Peony and Vitamin E, the Positive Light Under Eye Brightener doesn’t only give you glowing skin, but it also gives skincare benefits. And we love makeup that thinks of the skin!
One of the most fun parts about the brightener is its unique applicator which is instantly soothing on the skin and fun to use.
All you need to do is apply a few dots under the eye area and simply tap it out with your finger. You can also use the brightener in the other areas that you usually highlight, like the cheekbones, temple and wherever else you fancy highlighting.
Easy to use, it glides on the skin effortlessly, is buildable and doesn’t crease. Pair it with the Rare Beauty Positive Light Tinted Moisturizer for beautiful results!
My Thoughts
The Rare Beauty Positive Light Under Eye Brightener is a lovely addition to a glowing makeup routine! If you’re one of those lucky few that don’t need to wear concealer, this is the perfect product for a quick no-makeup makeup look.
Dab it on before you rush out and you’ll look instantly refreshed! For the remaining 99.9% of people who need to use concealer in the morning, the brightener is a nice and fun addition, but it means one step in your makeup routine.
Unless you’re super-organised, another step is another step and not everyone has the time for that! Despite that, the brightener is a great addition to your makeup collection, even if you only keep it for special occasions because who doesn’t love glowing skin?!
The brightener is cruelty-free, vegan, paraben-free, dermatologist-tested & Ophthalmologist tested, suitable for sensitive skin and non-comedogenic.
