Hourglass Vanish Airbrush Concealer Review- Does It Make Dark Circles Disappear?

Can there ever be too many concealers on the market? I think not. Especially when brands like Hourglass keep delivering standouts like the Hourglass Vanish Airbrush Concealer.

Hourglass is known for its luxurious, skin-focused formulas. Founded by Carisa Janes in 2004, the brand was created with problem skin in mind, focusing on oil-free products infused with anti-ageing ingredients.

Sleek, elegant packaging and high-performance formulas are what Hourglass does best, and the Vanish Airbrush Concealer is no exception.

The Hourglass Vanish Airbrush Concealer comes in 22 shades, ranging from fair, medium and deep skin tones.

The concealer is an extension of their Vanish line, the Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick, Vanish Seamless Liquid Foundation and Vanish Flash Highlighting Stick. These are among the best sellers on Hourglass.

The reviews are outstanding for the Vanish line, and people can’t seem to get enough of it!

The Hourglass Vanish Airbrush Concealer makes some bold claims: full coverage, weightless, waterproof, crease-resistant, and long-wearing. And honestly? It lives up to most of them.

The packaging is sleek and luxurious, with a generous doe-foot applicator. One dip gives you more than enough product, so this concealer will last ages.

The first thing I noticed was how smoothly it applies. Itโ€™s very pigmented but still feels lightweight and comfortable on the skin. A little really does go a long way. I did pick the lightest shade and it was slightly too pale for me, which gave a bluish tone, but that was just a shade mismatch on my end. Online shopping can be risky!

It dries quickly, so you need to blend fast and apply powder straight away if you like to set your concealer. Once it sets, it stays put and gives that smooth, airbrushed look it promises.

When it comes to concealer, the three most important things I look at are coverage, creasing, and longevity.

The Hourglass Vanish Airbrush Concealer impressed me. It gives full coverage that hides dark circles and pigmentation, yet still looks natural and skin-like. The lasting power is solid too, it stays put throughout the day.

The only downside for me is the creasing. Ultimately, the condition of your under-eyes will always show through to some extent, and this concealer is no exception.

So while the area around my eyes is probably too dry, there are better concealers that are more hydrating and don’t crease. My favourite one at the moment is the Fenty Beauty Pro Fit’r Concealer.

If you haven’t managed to find any concealer that doesn’t crease for you, one of the best tricks is to mix your concealer with your moisturiser. It takes care of most of the creasing. Check out my top 10 concealers for mature skin.

The concealer has a matte finish which makes it ideal for oily and shiny skin. It keeps the oil at bay all day! It looks extremely natural and will brighten your whole appearance.

Final Thoughts

As good as the Hourglass Vanish Airbrush Concealer is, the shade range has received criticism. Many feel it lacks inclusivity, which is understandable, especially in todayโ€™s beauty industry where broader shade ranges should be the standard.

That aside, the formula itself is strong. Itโ€™s buildable, blendable, and gives bright, full coverage without feeling heavy. It works beautifully under the eyes and on problem areas.

My main issue is that it could be more hydrating. With the shift toward skin-like makeup, a slightly less drying formula would make it even better.

Overall, itโ€™s a lightweight, high-coverage concealer that performs well and lasts a long time, making it a worthwhile addition to most makeup collections.

  1. Thank you for this review of Hourglass Vanish Airbrush Concealer. After reading it, I am seriously considering to buy it – because I desperately need some good concealer (curse of dark circles running in the family) and I usually go with natural-looking base. Luckily, it’s within my price range, as I can see on Nordstrom’s site.

    1. It’s a fab concealer!
