Urban Decay Naked Skin One & Done Blur On The Run – Does it really work?

Imagine if someone told you that you can have flawlessly smooth, pore-free skin every.single.day. All you need for it is one small product. Well, Urban Decay has done exactly that with the Naked Skin One & Done Blur On the Run.

I’m usually a huge fan of Urban Decay as you can tell from my many reviews of their products: All-Nighter Setting Spray, Stay Naked Collection, Naked Hydromaniac Tinted Glow Foundation – to name a few! I’ve reviewed many of their products because usually, they are worth it, let’s see if the Naked Skin One & Done Blur On The Run lives up to the rest.

Urban Decay says this Touch-Up & Finishing Balm is the magic potion for lines, creases or any other unevenness in your makeup. They claim it’s an instant retoucher that blurs and smooths out everything.

It sounds like the missing finishing powder for all our makeup bags. But before you go and buy it, let’s find out how it can provide the magic we are all looking for.

What is the Naked Skin One & Done Blur On The Run?

Naked Skin One & Done Blur On the Run is a touch-up and finishing balm that is different from most finishing and setting powders.

It’s marketed as a finishing product for all skin types that will give you the perfect smooth complexion and blur out all lines and imperfections and you can say goodbye to any oil appearing in the day. So what makes it different?

To start with, the texture is much creamier than most finishing products. Once applied the cream gets absorbed into your skin and dries to a perfect finish. You won’t even notice you are wearing anything at all. It can be worn alone or on top of makeup. You can also use it to touch up your makeup throughout the day.

The formula is very hydrating and long-lasting. It has all the features that a product like this needs. It’s made with a unique formula which includes Optical Blurring Pigments to give you a flawless look.

It comes in pretty packaging with a convenient mirror inside. There are 2 colours, light to medium and medium to dark. I like the size too, it can neatly fit into your pocket when you’re out and about.

My experience of the Urban Decay Naked Skin One & Done Blur On The Run

Naked Skin One & Done Blur On The Run

In general, I am a big fan of Urban Decay products. However, this one has been a learning curve. Firstly, it’s full of silicone, which I know a lot of products have, however, when I can, I try to avoid products with silicone to some degree.

Silicone clogs pores and generally has a bad effect on my skin which gets clogged pretty easily. Many people are ok with silicone and it doesn’t have a bad effect on their skin.

When I first used the product, I found the actual application to be quite tricky. It didn’t apply as nicely and smoothly as I expected. Another thing to note is that it doesn’t apply nicely on top of powder products. It sort of just smears around with the makeup, which makes sense.

Since it’s a cream product, you should apply it on top of other cream products. It takes a little practising to learn how to apply and blend the finishing powder properly. I recommend using a brush or beauty blender to apply it. Once you get the hang of it, it does look pretty neat and my skin looks smoother, but the real question is, does it last?

I have combination skin, so part of my face is oily and part is dry. Over the oily areas, it did absorb the oil and gave it a matte finish. However, over the dry areas, it didn’t work at all.

If you have dry skin this is not the product for you. I also feel that it is targeted more towards those who don’t wear full-coverage makeup. It works much better on top of lighter coverage makeup, over full it sort of just drags the makeup around and won’t achieve any blurring effect.

Another issue I often have with makeup is…the colour! For pale skin, the colours are way too dark.

Is the Urban Decay Setting Powder for you?

Overall, would I recommend the Naked Skin One & Done Blur On The Run? Possibly. It depends on your needs and how you wear your makeup.

Since it doesn’t sit well on top of heavy makeup, I don’t recommend it for those who wear a full-coverage foundation. I also don’t recommend it if you wear a powder foundation because it simply does not work together.

While the product is essentially good, it doesn’t work for everyone, nor on every occasion. I find the Naked Skin One & Done Blur On The Run a little overpriced, especially considering its drawbacks.

Oh, and Urban Decay, if you happen to come across my post and read it when you create new products keep in mind us pale girls. We love makeup too:)

As a great alternative, I recommend the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder or the Rodial Setting Powder. Both are great options for flawless makeup.

Naked Skin One & Done Blur On The Run is paraben-free and cruelty-free.

Urban Decay Naked Skin One & Done Blur On The Run has been discontinued by Urban Decay. However, it’s still available on eBay and House Of Fraser.

Great review. I hadn’t even thought about the ingredients in my makeup. I’m so grateful that you pointed out that silicon can clog pores.
I think I’ll skip the one and done blur on the run after reading your review of it. I don’t need another makeup that just smears around. My skin is a bit on the dry side, so it sounds like it won’t work well with it.

    1. In general I’m not a fan of silicone, but some people have no problem with it. My personal opinion is that it cant be good for anyone!

I really like your post, it’s informative and honest, you expose the good and the downfalls about it, the downfalls outweighing the good so it was an obvious thumbs down. I definitely agree with being that silicone is in the product would naturally be a turn off.

I believe that you’re content and ability to put your experience across to the reader is a definite plus. Thank you for the post and thanks for taking the time to read my feedback, best of wishes.
