I know, I’m a little late with reviewing the new Naked Heat Palette, but not without good reason. At first I wasn’t going to review it at all because EVERY beauty blogger out there has done a review, and how many reviews does one products need? Or so I thought. After checking out this Urban Decay Eyeshadow Palette, I sure had a change of mind. It IS that amazing, as you will soon see!
What’s The New Naked Heat Palette All About?
Urban Decay have fiiiinally released a new eyeshadow palette. I say finally because it’s been two years since they released their last one. This is a long time for us makeup junkies who can’t get enough of the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Palettes. The new palette joins the family of the Naked range with this one being the fifth palette released to date. It is called Heat due to its 12 beautiful, hot, smokin’ colours and honestly, I am totally smitten. The colours were made to suit all skin tones and judging by the picture above this is something that they have managed to achieve with flying colours;)
I’ll start with the packaging. You don’t need to read the words on the packaging to get a feel for the palette, it’s self – explanatory. It oozes ‘heat’ from every fibre of the design. I love how the swatches of the colours are on the cover, it fits in perfectly with the whole theme. Inside the palette there is a mirror and a double-ended brush that comes with it. One end is for blending and the other is a detailed crease brush. These are both lovely features and always make the product more attractive and useful.
On to the colours. NO WORDS. They speak for themselves, each one is more beautiful than the next. It’s no wonder that everyone has been going crazy over this palette. It has 12 shadows that range from a pink-toned nude to coppery brown, with shades of brick in between. From left to right the colours are- Ounce, Chaser, Sauced, Low Blow, Lumbre, He Devil, Dirty Talk, Scorched, Cayenne, En Fuego, Ashes and Ember. There are 7 matte colours, 2 shimmer colours and 3 metallic colours.
I have hazel eyes and these colours would complement them perfectly. All the colours are beautiful so its hard to pick which one I love the most but Scorched and En Fuego are very high up. I love the red and gold combo, it’s really stunning and looks gorgeous when wearing it. Each colour can be worn alone and it will still look breathtaking. If your want a smokey eye this palette is an all-in-one ideal palette for that.
All the shades are very build-able, easy to blend and stay on all day.
Are There Any Negatives?
Like everything in life this palette too has some negative (ish) factors. The shadows are a bit drier than the other Urban Decay eyeshadow palettes. The other palettes have a creamier consistency to them, which makes them slightly easier to apply. I anyways always recommend using a primer before applying eyeshadow, but with this palette I would say its a must in order to get the best results. The best under eye primer is the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion. I can’t live without it, I use it everyday under my eyes and my eyeshadow does not budge or crease.
Another thing that a lot of people mentioned is that they found the palette doesn’t have enough variety. That the colours all blend into each other and the general wow factor is missing. Personally this is not my opinion, but I do hear what they are saying. If you want a dramatic, bright, shocking look, this is not the palette for you. This palette is deep, steamy, smokey and sizzling. The colours are perfect for hot summer nights and they match the changing leaves of autumn. It’s true, the colours are all similar in the big picture, but it’s a neutral palette so it’s to be expected. I think this palette has a perfect combination of colours.
Urban Decay founder Wende Zomnir told Allure, “I’ve never been able to say this about a Naked palette, but this is the first Naked palette that satisfies both my need for neutrals and my craving for rich, sexy color”. I think that sums up the palette pretty well!
Am I a fan? Oh yes. I am totally sold. This palette is everything one could want from a neutral palette, and its the perfect palette to create a smokey eye look. The colours are truly beautiful with a stunning range to them. The are also highly pigmented and look dazzling on. There are so many different looks that can be created from this palette alone that I can see it fast becoming my go-to palette for all occasions. To sum up this Urban Decay eyeshadow palette in a few words, l would say obsessive, quality, hot, smokey, dazzling, beautiful, oh and the list can go on and on and on……
