It’s not every day that a beauty collection comes with both makeup and skincare! So this particular launch has got me super excited! The PÜR Cosmetics Defense Anti-Pollution Collection is a 5-piece launch consisting of 3 makeup items and 2 skincare items.
All of the products are designed to help fight and fix the damage from life in the modern world! Pollution, harmful rays, and the stressful effects of having to tell your kids to put away their shoes for the 5th time in one hour! Let’s see what the Defense Anti-Pollution Collection is all about and if the products really help with environmental stressors!
Between the eyeshadow palette and the moisturiser, it’s hard for me to tell which is the star of the collection. But it’s safe to say that these two are, respectively, the main products for each cosmetic category offered in the collection. The PÜR Cosmetics Defense Anti-Pollution is a skin food infused line. From the eyeliner pen to the mask, it features ingredients that are truly good for your skin.
The collection packaging features a smokey black facade with a touch of iridescent elements incorporated throughout their design to mimic smoke.
The PUR Cosmetics On Point Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner Pen is formulated with an ultra-matte black pigment that won’t fade, smudge or run through the day.
It comes in shiny plastic packaging, with metal-plate details. It has a fine, flexible felt tip applicator that doesn’t fuzz.
This product is enriched with Lash Rejuvenation Complex and Passion Flower Oil to prevent premature lash fallout and provides skin with needed moisture without causing the formula to smudge or run. Also, it’s ocularly tested (ophthalmologist-tested) and safe for sensitive eyes. So it’s a solid eyeliner pen for everyday use!
Let me just say that this palette is absolutely gorgeous! The packaging spews luxury and the shades are simple, yet beautiful! The palette features 12 shades that are easy to work with. It features foil, shimmer, matte, and glitter finishes. Plenty of variety for experimentation.
It comes in a sturdy plastic classy packaging. The cover of the palette features a shiny, reflective surface with a holographic picture design. At first glance, I thought it was to make the palette appear mysterious but after giving it a thought, I realised that the smoke is a play on pollution! Clever, clever! When the palette is angled, the smoke image instantly makes the palette name and logo appear 3D and floating! Very chic for a $34 palette.
This eyeshadow palette features the PUR Cosmetics Energy Complex; a combination of ginseng, green tea and vitamin B that helps boost the skin’s natural metabolism and rejuvenate the look of skin.
It’s also infused with Zingiber Officinale Root Extract, Alpinia Officinarum Root Extract and Brassica Campestris Seed Oil work to help protect skin against environmental stressors, like pollution of course.
The shadows themselves are neatly arranged for easy inspiration. I can tell the top row is for us nude lovers and the days that have the mood for it; the middle row is for spiced up formal occasions, and the bottom row is for special nights (or days) where you want a fun look. Even by column, they are easy 3-shade combinations for the busy woman!
The shadow names are only presented on the palette’s cardboard box which is a bit annoying but who cares about the names when this palette is this great?!
The formula is pretty good. The colours are pigmented and the intensity can be easily layered. It doesn’t patch at all and the finishes are just wow. The glitters and foils are incredible when light reflects and there isn’t much annoying fallout when applying them.
Next up we have the PUR Cosmetics Defense Anti-Pollution Mattifying Setting Spray which will lock in your makeup and help it last longer.
This spray features a dual-action, skin-loving formula that helps protect skin from environmental stressors, like daily grime, smoke, smog and high energy visible blue light! Kinda awesome that a matte spray can do all that! Or does it?
The spray is enriched with a combination of ginseng, green tea and vitamin B that helps boost the skin’s natural healing properties. It contains grape leaf extracts to protect skin against high energy visible blue light, like the ones coming from our screen devices. And lastly, has charcoal to help absorb any excess oil even before it shows.
It comes in a beautiful shiny black packaging still donning the smokey theme seen on the silver detailing. It’s a pretty bottle and I love that the spray actually pushes out mist, instead of that spit action cheap spray bottles do.
The PUR Cosmetics Submerge Overnight Detox Anti-Pollution Moisturizer is the first skincare product within the collection. It is designed to deeply nourish and help purify your skin overnight.
The formula claims to drastically help reduce the appearance of dry skin, fine lines and wrinkles with intense hydration and anti-pollution technology. It is a gel-cream that can be worn overnight and during the day.
The packaging is again, gorgeous! It’s in the shape of a ball and the cap is really trying to make a statement. It’s a cute little orb design covered in the all shiny black smoke facade of the collection.
The moisturiser is lightweight and absorbs quickly. It is formulated with the skin-nourishing properties of Alteromonas Ferment Extract, which helps with the effects of pollution and radiation. It also contains charcoal for oil absorption and wild pansy extracts for the skin hydration.
The last product, but not the least is the PUR Cosmetics Downtown Detox Detoxifying Black Lemon Mask! This mask helps in detoxifying all that pent up skin stress!
Charcoal is very much a dominant ingredient in this collection. So this mask is no different. It contains charcoal and absorbent clay that helps draw out impurities and excess oil and cleanses away pollutants from congested pores. It is also infused with Lactic Acid for mild exfoliation.
This weekly PÜR face mask also doubles as a spot treatment. It can be used to cleanse away skin-ageing pollutants like smoke and smog without stripping the skin of much-needed moisture. And when those penetrate the skin to form acne and family, the mask can be applied overnight to help out with the literal skin breakout.
It’s a dark grey coloured cream contained in a standard upright plastic tube. And unlike the other product in this collection, features a matte white plastic design with a silver-sprayed shiny cap.
The product goes on very smoothly with a divine silky texture. It rinses off very easily and you can totally see and feel a difference in your skin after using it.
I love the skincare products in this collection, including the matte spray. The moisturiser and mask really give the solutions the skin needs. On the other hand, I personally am not such a fan of the eyeliner. It is pretty average but is still functional in regards to what it’s made for. However, I just don’t see anything extra special in it to be cashing out a mid-end price for an average liner
The eyeshadow palette and setting spray are just right! The setting spray works and really mattifies the makeup look, while the palette is simply beautiful. I love the packaging and shades. And I love that it was a hit for me, considering that PUR’s eyeshadow palettes are usually a hit or miss!
The big question is do the products actually help with pollution? Well, they have all the right ingredients to make a difference and protect your skin. So whether they help with pollution or not, they definitely help protect your skin to create a barrier from all nastiness.
