NYX Highlight and Contour Palette Review

Since buying the NYX Highlight and Contour Palette, I’ve been using it every day and honestly, I’m hooked! Contouring is a really easy way to get natural-looking defined cheekbones.

It comes with 6 shades- 4 contour ones and 4 highlight ones. They are all removable, once you finish a shade you can simply replace it. Personally, I love all the colours it comes with- it has a range to fit every skin colour.

This palette can be used for an everyday look and an evening one. There is one shimmery colour for highlighting which is perfect for a dressier look. The other highlight shades can be used to lighten wherever necessary.

The contour colours are all different shades of brown. Want a dramatic look, choose dark brown and for a subtle look choose one of the lighter shades. Basically, there’s a shade for every occasion!

The most important feature for me is that the shades aren’t too orange, and neither too brown. I have very pale skin with neutral undertones so it’s a fine balance.

While not all of the shades in this palette work perfectly for my skin tone, one of the shades is spot on! It suits my skin perfectly and gives me a natural-looking chiselled cheekbone look.

The palette is really high quality and there is barely any fallout. On top of that, the colours blend really easily and smoothly onto the skin. They are highly pigmented making it easy to create a flawless look with them.

What I do recommend is using a good skin primer before applying your makeup so that it stays on better. This really goes for any makeup that you apply.

The packaging is nice and simple. Whilst it’s slightly on the bulky side, it does fit 6 full-sized shades, so it’s not something to complain about!

Do I recommend the NYX Highlight and Contour Palette?

This is one impressive and relatively affordable palette! It is really easy to use so it’s perfect for beginners who are new to highlighting and contouring.

That being said, professionals will also love this contour palette! It’s easy to use, looks fab on the skin and lasts really well too! The NYX Highlight and Contour Palette has a vegan formula and is cruelty-free.

I used to contour my face; but I have gotten away from that as I get older; except I use my blush in certain ways for contour.

This does look very interesting. It really does contain quite an array of colors that look like they would work for anyone or any occasion.

I must admit that I don’t like to spend a lot of time on my makeup anymore. I do like to use coverup for my dark circles. Do you have any suggestions? I also use eye makeup and blusher.

    1. It is a great palette however, if you don’t like to spend a lot of time on your makeup this is a step that can be skipped.

I have been through a ton of concealers to cover my circles as they are also dark. I have finally found the perfect one- its the Bourjois Radiance Reveal Concealer. It covers my circles AMAZINGLY! And the price is so affordable. You can buy it here

      Good luck:)

  2. Great Post! This palette looks really great. Unfortunately I am allergic to the common make up and have to ask what kind of ingredients were used. Can you maybe tell me more about it? Either way it looks great to buy it as a gift for a friend who loves to have the latest trend in her purse.

    1. If you are allergic to the common makeup ingredients I wouldn’t recommend getting this for yourself. I looked into the ingredients and like most makeup some of the ingredients are questionable. But like you say it can make a great gift:)
