NARS Liquid Blush review

They each come in an individual glass bottle containing 1.5oz. One of my favourite features is that the bottles come with a pump, which is the best for all liquid makeup.

Do you know when your favourite makeup has rubbish packaging? It kind of ruins the whole product, because when it’s annoying to use, you generally find yourself using it less. So yes, the packaging is a very important feature and the NARS liquid blush has scored well with that.

The colours are all really highly pigmented. Honestly, I was surprised by how intense the colour is from one pump, it’s more than enough for a natural rosy cheek.

Even though the bottle may look small to you, it goes a very long way, due to each drop containing so much pigment.

The consistency is a little runny so it may take time to get used to applying it. It does require a slightly different technique to powder blush. My advice, start slowly with one drop at a time and if you want a more intense color, add to it.

The blushes are very buildable, go on super smoothly and blend really easily. You can blend with your fingers or a stippling brush, both do the job beautifully.

The liquid blush has a dewy, satin look that makes your skin feel really soft. It contains Monoi and Tamanu oils which give the skin added moisture. Each of the liquid blush shades has a matching powder blush.

Orgasm

Of all the four blushes this is probably the most popular. People literally can’t get enough of it. It’s part of the orgasm collection and the colour is based on the powder orgasm blush.

The collection also comes with illuminators, lip glosses and lipstick. All the products in this collection have a beautiful golden shimmer. Perfect for the summer months when you’re after that beautiful summer glow.

Orgasm is a pinkish colour with a beautiful peachy glow to it, which complements my fair skin perfectly. It has warm, yellow undertones and quite a strong shimmer, so be aware of that. It has semi-sheer to semi-opaque pigmentation.

Luster

Orgasm and Luster are the colours that suit my pale skin the best, the other two are too dark for me. Luster is a peachy orange colour with warm undertones. It has semi-sheer to medium pigmentation. The liquid blush has less of a shimmer than its matching powder blush.

Torrid

Torrid is a medium orange colour with warm undertones and a touch of pink to it. It has a semi-sheer to almost opaque pigmentation. The powder blush has more of a shimmer than the liquid one.

Dolce Vita

This is the darkest colour of the liquid blushers with a darkish pink colour, warm undertones and a slight shimmer. It has a semi-sheer to opaque pigmentation.

Dolce Vita is way too dark for me, when I tried it I resembled a clown.  However, if you have the right skin tone this is a beautiful colour. (I am simply too pale!)

What skin type is liquid blush for?

The type of blush you choose, be it powder, cream or liquid really depends on your skin type and what look you are trying to achieve. The general rule is that powder is for oily skin, and cream or liquid is for dry and mature skin.

This is because powder tends to dry out the oil from the skin whereas, cream and liquid blush moisturise the skin. Cream and liquid blush also make the skin look younger and give a more natural look.

Another difference between powder and liquid blush is that liquid is more buildable and you have more control over the intensity of the colour. This means you never have to worry about clown cheeks.

The finish is also different. Powder blush gives a matte finish whereas, liquid blush has more of a dewy finish. Another big factor that can affect your choice is that powder tends to last longer than liquid. So if you’re in for a long day then powder would be your best bet.

So there are many differences between the different types of blush available. If you can’t decide which suits you best, an amazing hack is to use two different types. Start with liquid or cream and put some powder on top. This way you get the best of both looks:)

My Thoughts

One of the factors that make these liquid blushers better than others on the market is that they’re really long-lasting. This is rather unique with a liquid blush.

One of the biggest selling points for me is how easy it is to blend the edges. There is no visible line separating your blush from your skin, it blends seamlessly.

A tip for applying the liquid blush is to apply a thin layer, wait for it to dry and then see if you need more. It applies much better with one thin layer at a time and you have more control over it too.

The NARS liquid blushes are definitely a winner. The colours are all highly pigmented, very easy to apply, last about 8 hours and I love the packaging. Altogether very high quality which is something I’ve come to expect from NARS;)

    Hi,
Thanks for all the tips you share on your post about blushes, I did no have the idea that creamy and liquid blushes should be applied only on dry skins. I have always used the powder, and I do not have oily skin and neither dry, so do you think I can try the liquid blush even where I live is a little hot and sometimes humid? I did like the NARS colours.

    1. Sure you can use it. The general rule is liquid is for dry skin but NARS is so good I think it would work on all skin types. Since you live in a hot climate make sure to use a good primer. I have reviewed here –Laura Geller Makeup – Spackle Under Makeup Primer Its the best!

Hey Hollie! I enjoyed this review. I didn’t know there was such a thing as a liquid blush. I really want to get into makeup but I don’t have the money to try brands. I was wondering two things. Are the darker colors or lighter colors better for dark skin since blush is like a highlight right? So it doesn’t necessarily have to show or stand out? Also, are these alright with oily skin?

    Hope this makes sense 🙂

    1. Liquid blush is great- they are so easy to blend and they look sooo natural. I think any of the colours would work with darker skin, like you say it kind or highlights it. I think blush is way nicer if it doesn’t stand out- its applied best when it adds colour without one even noticing that you are wearing blush at all.

These are ok with oily skin but still better with dry skin.

      Thanks for stopping by!

  3. I have always been a fan of liquid rather than powder blushers. I think it’s probably due to the fact that my skin tends to be dry, so the liquid just looks so much better.

It’s also easy to apply and simply blend with your fingers. All  I do is place three little dots on my upper cheeks and blend – simple.

I love the colors in this range and am definitely going to add to my collection.

    1. Yes, liquid blush is so much better for dry skin than powder blush! And the NARS liquid blush will make a great a great addition to your makeup collection.

  4. Hi! I am new to makeup and I’ve been pretty afraid to try out blush as I don’t want to mess up and look weird. Thankyou for the explanation of the difference between liquid and powder blush, i have oily skin so I guess I should use powdered blush as you suggested.

I’ve enjoyed reading the post and it made me want to add blush in my makeup routine! Thankyou!

    1. I get you- I was the same! However, when you apply blush correctly it adds so much!  It’s worth the try:)
