Makeup Monday: Morphe The James Charles Palette

posted in: Makeup | 10

Hey beauty lovers! I’m so excited to be starting my newest series called Makeup Monday, kind of original, I know! However, super exciting nevertheless. I hope to have a new makeup post every Monday, although it may only happen every other Monday. It really depends on what’s going on here. The post will be a review on makeup products or how to slay makeup looks!
Today I’m going to talk about the new Morphe- The James Charles Palette. It is a collaboration between Morphe and James Charles. If you haven’t watched James on YouTube yet I highly recommend checking him out. He is a breath of fresh air as well as a makeup pro!

Morphe The James Charles Palette

If you love colourful makeup, then this is the palette for you. It has every colour of the rainbow plus all the essential colours that you need for an everyday look. Personally, I’m more of a neutral girl, but I did love trying out this palette. There’s something in it for everyone and there are plenty of neutral shades too.

Before I begin about the inside can we just talk about the packaging for a minute?! The palette comes in a white box with a picture of James on it featuring him wearing the makeup, totally beautiful, sisters! When you open the box the outside of the palette is sleek and black, I love the black and white contrast, it’s very effective and very suitable for the palette. It’s all very calm and neutral and then you open the palette and BAM! Every bright colour will hit you. Don’t be disheartened, the palette is beautiful!

The Colours & Swatches

The palette comes with 39 fabulous swatches. There is a combination of mattes, metallics and shimmers as well as every colour under the sun. From the blues to the pinks and oranges to reds. Everything is in this palette. The colours are all highly pigmented. Now I know there has been a lot of talk about how James double swatched some of the colours on his video of the palette. So firstly sisters, calm down! He isn’t the first or the last to do this and it doesn’t mean his palette isn’t good! My take on this is, firstly the colours are highly pigmented. Just check out those blues! Yes, it’s true that some colours are better pigmented than others but hello, this isn’t a perfect world, and even the colours that aren’t as strongly pigmented are still awesome and only need a double swatch.

In all, the colours are beautiful, they are super creamy and they apply seamlessly. I don’t get so bothered if a colour here and there needs applying a bit more than other colours, you will have this is every palette. I guarantee you.
Btw I tried to do swatches on my arm- but it got way too messy because I ran out of space- I will try again when I have more time! However, I found the palette a breeze to work with, there were very little fallout and blotchiness.

My Thoughts

Is the Morphe James Charles Palette worth it? Oh yes!! There is such a huge selection of colours, it is so easy to use. The amount of looks that can be created from this palette alone is endless and if you’re stuck for inspiration just check out James youtube channel or Instagram. He has a ton of inspo and he makes every look super easy to recreate!
It’s also perfect for travelling with, with this one palette you can create any look from evening today and mature to fun look. It’s all in it! I hope you love it as much as I do! Sorry, scratch that, I am sure you will love it as much as I do!

Morphe The James Charles Palette can be bought from lookfantastic.com for £39
Sorry but all the palettes are currently sold out of every shop in the UK! I will keep you all posted on when they become available again. Until then have a look at some other fabulous must haves eyeshadow palettes here.

When I was younger I used to use all these colorful shades and more, but now as I am nearing my fifties, I prefer the more toned down look and go for more natural shades.

However, I love to watch James and his tutorials on Utube and he is very creative in his approach. I would never have the guts to carry some of the looks off, but he also has wonderful ideas for stage makeup which I am always looking for to apply to our school concerts.

    HI there,

I was searching on the net makeup for my daughter, she needs a new set. The James Charles palettes seem to be beautiful. Does it look shiny on the skin? My daughter loves the mat colors:) I have bookmarked your website so I can show it to my daughter later on. Thank you for this excellent post!

The shimmery colours look shiny and the others don’t!

I’m sure your daughter will love it!

Higher percentage of we ladies or women use make-ups. And this colourful James Charles pallette is something we women should have to add to the collections we already have. This is going to look lovely on my face. I am making an order for this colourful pallette. Thanks for sharing this article, it is really cool.

Hollie,Your site is absolutely stunning. It simply exudes your passion, creativity and dedication. What a wonderful way to demonstrate to your beautiful family that anything is possible.I chose to comment on this article because thinning hair is a problem from which I suffer. I never really thought about diet having an effect on hair loss. I certainly did not know that there is a right and a wrong way to brush your hair. I am 52 years young. My hair is about shoulder length, fine and naturally curly (I deal with constant frizz due to the humidity where I live). It comes out in droves every time I wash or brush. I just imagined that this was normal but your insight has given me some food for thought. I have never really been big on makeup, preferring the natural look, but I do wear it from time to time on special occasions. A little lipstick and a little blush makes the world of difference sometimes. My skin care regimen is a little lackluster as well. I do not have a particular routine but I do use apricot scrub (St. Ives) regularly as well as some sort of toner (I like clinique-clarifying toner) and moisturizer (oil of Olay). I love to pamper myself in the bath. I am a huge fan of aromatherapy. I should own stock in Bath & Body Works. Have you tried their sleep, energy, or stress relief products? Ahhh….. they smell so good. And speaking of smells, I stumbled across your review of Jimmy Choo, nice. My go to in the fragrance department is Touch by Burberry. I also love Victoria Secret’s Very Sexy. Exploring your site today was a pleasure. It was really nice to come to a place packed with useful tips, helpful information and great products. Thank you for all of the hard work and hours you have put in to bring this to women everywhere. Blessings to you and your loved ones,Julie
