Korean Beauty Makeup Haul – Is It Worth Trying?

Korean Beauty is one of the biggest trends in the makeup and beauty industry in recent years. People just can’t seem to get enough of it! But what’s really the difference between Korean makeup and the Western world’s makeup?

The Korean motto is skin first, and this is no doubt making an impression in Western society too. Without good skin, your makeup can’t look good.

Koreans have their own style when it comes to makeup application too. They go for a much more natural look than us Westerners, although, it has influenced us as well. Many people now opt for a more natural makeup look.

One of my personal reasons for liking Korean makeup is because most Koreans have pale skin…like me! There is a much bigger range of makeup for pale skin colours.

It’s not something I really struggle with anymore, but 10 years ago there was very little around for us glow-in-the-dark humans!

Onto the point of the article- the Korean Beauty Makeup Haul! I tried to get some of all the main pieces in makeup. I got an eyeshadow palette, eyeliner, lipstick, a blush and a lip tint.

CHICA Y CHICO – One Shot Eye Palette – No.03

First up we have this pink-toned, six-shade eyeshadow palette. It comes with 3 mattes, one shimmer and 2 glitters. It’s such a cute, neat eyeshadow palette! Ideal for evenings out, it’s small and handy and will fit into the smallest of handbags.

The colours are beautiful! They are warm orangey/pink shades and although I usually prefer cool tones on myself, this palette is hard to resist!

My swatches don’t do the palette justice- at all! I’m still trying to learn the art of swatching- every time I try it, it comes out a little off! The shades are beautiful and highly pigmented!

What I love most about this eyeshadow palette is the quality of the shades. The shadows are super buttery and soft, literally one of the most buttery eyeshadows I’ve felt! They are also highly pigmented.

There are some minor disadvantages to this palette, but as I said, they are only minor. Firstly, there is no mirror inside, however, since the palette is so small, a mirror wouldn’t be very useful anyway.

The other disadvantage is that unless you speak Korean, you’re not going to understand the ingredients written on the back.

MISSHA – Cotton Blush – Vintage Robe

The blush comes in 10 shades, I got Vintage Robe which is like a muted pink. I don’t like it when you can see the blush on my cheeks, for me the job of the blush is to enhance my natural beauty;)

It needs to add colour, not take over and Vintage Robe does the job perfectly. It adds some life to my colourless cheeks! Like the eyeshadow palette, the blush is buttery and soft to the touch!

MACQUEEN – Waterproof Gel Eyeliner – Smoking Roast Latte

The Macqueen Waterproof Gel Eyeliner comes in 5 different shades. I got the shade Smoking Roast Latte which is a dark grey almost black colour.

It’s really easy to apply with, it’s smooth and not flaky, and the best part is that it’s waterproof. Yup, that means you’ll have no more eyeliner transferring onto your eyelids- one of my biggest pet peeves and something that I regularly suffer from.

I’ve tried many waterproof eyeliners, but this has got to be one of my favourite ones!

Heimish – Varnish Velvet Lip Tint – Scarlet Pink

The Varnish Velvet Lip Tint comes in the cutest packaging. I’m totally obsessed! It comes in 5 shades ranging from red to pink and bright pink.

The pink I got is not the brightest one in the collection, there is an even brighter one, but still, it’s a little too pink for me. I’m just not your pink-lip kinda gal!

However, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality, although I probably shouldn’t be surprised anymore! It’s called the velvet lip tint and that’s exactly what it is.

The texture is so soft and velvety, it feels amazing on the lips and doesn’t dry them out at all. There’s probably a moisturising ingredient in the lipstick, but unless you speak Korean, it’s hard to know!

Also, it smells amazing- I can’t quite put my finger on what the smell is, but it is sooo good. It makes me want to lick my lips, which is probably not a good idea!

MEMEBOX – I’M MEME I’m Tic Toc Lip Tint Cashmere – 006 Smoky Amber

Last but not least, I got this Cashmere Lip Tint. When I first tried to use it, I genuinely thought it was a scam. The reason is it has a really weird applicator.

It has a sponge tip and to get the product out you need to press a button at the bottom of the lip tint. The first time I tried to use it, I had to press it at least 15 times before there was any product.

MEMEBOX - I'M MEME I'm Tic Toc Lip Tint Cashmere - 006 Smoky Amber

The I’m Meme I’m Tic Toc Lip Tint Cashmere comes in 10 shades. These appear to be best-sellers because they’re often out of stock.

It’s easy to understand why. They’re cool and easy to apply to the lips and they are ultra-comfortable too. I can’t speak for all the shades, but the Smokey Amber colour is slightly translucent which is nice for an everyday look.

It dries to a perfect matte and feels like it has moisturising ingredients too.

My Thoughts

Initially, I didn’t really expect to be impressed by Korean Beauty makeup. I always knew that they knew their skincare but I wasn’t expecting to be so impressed with Korean makeup.

Well, to be frank, I ate my words. I’m super impressed with their makeup and I love how Korean makeup feels good for the skin! Looking after my skin is really important to me, and I do think including skincare in makeup is something more brands should be doing.

Overall, I can’t recommend these makeup products enough. If you suffer from allergies and you don’t speak Korean, then perhaps find someone who does speak Korean or perhaps, email the brands for a translation of the ingredients. There is very little English on the packaging.

All the products in this makeup haul can be bought from Stylevana.com

  1. When we put makeup on our face we have to be very careful what we use. Various products can cause allergies. I am glad that this is mentioned in the text so that someone who has a sensitive skin type can pay attention to that. And as for the rest, I have never tried these products but I really like the color palette. It looks like the texture is soft too. I would definitely like to try it.

    1. If you have sensitive skin, I always recommend checking the ingredient list. In this case, it’s probably best to email them for a translation.

      The texture is amazing!
