How to prevent dry skin in the winterDo you have constant dry skin in the winter? This is a common problem that many people face every winter. Some get it worse than others with their skin cracking and bleeding. I hope this article on how to prevent dry skin in the winter will solve your problems with dry skin!

I have put together a list of 6 different ways on how to prevent dry skin in the winter and to give yourself soft and healthy skin the whole year round.

  1. Moisturise your skin- This is so so important to do daily. Dry skin comes from a lack of water in the skin. By using moisturiser you are effectively adding a seal so that the water can’t escape. Clarins have a great one.
  2. Treat your hands and feet- When the weather is cold your hands and feet tend to suffer the most. A brilliant trick that works wonder is to apply a generous helping of cream (Neutrogina is a great one that has never failed me) and then sleep with gloves and socks. When you awake your skin will feel silky and soft and very hydrated.
  3. Use warm water not hot for your bath/shower- Hot water washes away your natural oils and that dries out your skin.
  4. Pat you skin dry after a shower- Rubbing your skin will dry it out so softly pat it instead.
  5. Use sun cream- Most people don’t realise this but sun cream is not only for the summer. The winter sun combined with snow can damage your skin a lot.
  6. Protect yourself from the cold- When you are out wear gloves, a hat and a scarf. This will not only keep you warm but also protect your skin from getting dried out.

I hope you enjoyed this post on how to prevent dry skin in the winter. These are just a few things that I do . Let me know what you do! I’m always on the lookout for different ideas.

This is something I suffer with and it seems to get worse as I get older. My husband also has a problem with dry skin especially on his face, to the point his face gets really sore. At the moment he is trying Nivea for men.
Thanks for these tips, we will both be trying them and hopefully our skin will improve. I have used Neutrogina in the past and must put it on my list for my next shop. Thanks. Ches

Winter months can be great but at the same time we have to protect, it is so amazing what the cold weather can actually do to a persons skin. The tips that you have laid out here are awesome, many people go through the cold weather with such dry skin and that is not good for them, but the methods that you are talking about can make for a healthy.

Certain parts of my face and also my hands and feet get so dry in the winter, I can’t stand it. My skin is really sensitive to fragrance to the point where it dries my skin out more than it would be if I didn’t use that good smelling lotion. I tried getting a non fragrance lotion and it doesn’t really keep my skin well moisturized either. You think I should try the Clarins one?

The Clarins moisturiser is really good but using a good hand cream is just as important. I recommend Neutrogina which has never failed me- it literally does wonders. Good luck and i hope your skin improves!
